How do you store luggage for a few hours? ›

There are no self-service left lockers at London train stations or left luggage offices at any London underground/tube station. It can be expensive for short periods, so ask your air BnB, hotel, B&B or hostel if they have any bag storage facilities. Some will keep your bags for free, others will charge a small fee.

Although we have no cloakroom facility for bags, folded pushchairs can be left in the designated area in the booking hall for free but bags and coats cannot be left with them.

In the closet

The closet is a great place to keep your suitcase accessible but out of the way. Place it at the very top of your closet, lay it on the floor under hanging items, or set it off to the side against the wall.

CLOAK ROOMS

The dress code for all the restaurants in the Shard is that we request diners do not wear sportswear or beachwear. Jeans would be acceptable, however please be aware that trainers of any kind can be considered sportswear, so we recommend wearing a more conventional style of shoe.

If you're wondering how to travel without checked luggage, this is the best way to do so. Pocket-only travel allows you to carry more stuff, but only if they fit in your pockets. Travelers who go this route usually don outfits with multiple pockets and storage spaces like cargo pants and vests.

Rolling items will give you more storage space in your suitcase, since rolled items take up less room than folded items.

Fold the sleeves onto the shirt toward each other, creasing at the shoulder. Then either fold in half, so the front of the shirt is facing upwards, or file fold into thirds. File folding maximizes space, allowing you to stand the shirts up in a drawer, rather than one on top of the other.

Softer suitcases can absorb water and are more susceptible to stains, but they can be cleaned too. If you're traveling through rain or snow, for example, a hard-shell bag will provide better protection for what's inside. A hard-shell bag can be easier to maneuver across gravel or cobblestones too.

There's a reason for plastic-wrapping your luggage, and it's extra protection.
